ParkMark · Privacy Policy
The short version
ParkMark stores everything on your phone and nothing anywhere else. There is no account, no sign-in, no ads, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and no backend: the developer never receives any of your data, because the app has no servers to send it to. The only network traffic the app generates is downloading map tiles from OpenStreetMap; saving and finding your car work fully offline.
Data stored on your device
Parking location. When you tap “Park Here”, the app saves your GPS position, its accuracy, and the time — locally, in the app’s own storage. It is never transmitted or backed up anywhere.
Photo, note, and timer. The optional photo (for example a garage level sign) is stored in the app’s private storage; the optional note and parking timer are stored alongside the spot. The photo is deleted when you replace it or clear the spot.
All of it is cleared when you tap “Got my car”, and everything is gone entirely when you uninstall the app. Nothing exists outside your device, so there is nothing for us to delete on your behalf.
Permissions
Location (while using the app). Used to take the GPS fix when you save a spot and to show your live position on the map while walking back. Foreground only — the app never requests background location — and your location is used only on your device.
Notifications. Used for the parking-timer reminders and the ongoing “Parked” status notification with elapsed time. Notifications are generated on your device; they never pass through an external service. Denying the permission never blocks saving a spot.
Camera. ParkMark does not request camera permission. Photos are taken by your device’s own camera app and handed back to ParkMark, which stores them privately.
Map tiles (the one network exception)
The map is drawn with OpenStreetMap tiles. When you view it, your device requests tiles from OpenStreetMap’s public servers, and that request necessarily reveals the map area you are looking at — your approximate location — to those servers. That is how any online map works; it is not data collection by the app developer. For OpenStreetMap’s practices, see the OSM Foundation privacy policy. With no connection, the map simply shows what it has cached; saving and finding keep working.
The boring-but-important rest
ParkMark is not directed at children under 13, and contains no ads, no in-app purchases, and no user-generated content that leaves the device. Data is never sold or shared — there is nothing to sell or share. If this policy changes materially, the new version appears at this address with a new effective date. Questions?
